What Worked
International wellness tourists (yoga, Ayurveda, meditation) were booking via Airbnb or direct WhatsApp with no reviews or quality standards. Added verified retreat reviews + cancellation protection — 25% premium accepted by international customers.
Biggest Mistake
Listed all retreats without vetting. A bad 3-star review from a toxic mold issue destroyed a retreat's reputation on our platform. Implemented pre-listing inspection. 1-star reviews halved.

Pros & Cons
Pros

- No dominant Indian aggregator — Airbnb Experiences and Tripadvisor are generic
Cons
- Retreat quality varies wildly — curation is expensive and labour-intensive
- Seasonal revenue (post-Diwali and January are peak booking months)
- International payments and visa advisory add operational complexity
