He holds a B.Tech in Agricultural and Food Engineering from IIT Kharagpur (2002) and an MBA from IIM Calcutta, and worked for around two decades in strategy consulting, investment banking and corporate roles before founding AgNext in 2016 to bring objective, technology driven quality assessment to Indian agriculture.

1. 2024-06Investment from Novo Holdings — Denmark based Novo Holdings announced an investment in AgNext to back its AI based food quality solutions for more sustainable agriculture; the firm described it as its first Asia investment in the planetary health space.
2. 2021-08Series A of 21 million dollars led by Alpha Wave Incubation — AgNext raised a 21 million dollar Series A round led by Alpha Wave Incubation (backed by DisruptAD and managed by Falcon Edge Capital), with participation from Omnivore and Kalaari Capital, at a reported post money valuation of about Rs 375 to 400 crore. It was described as among the largest Series A rounds in Indian agritech; early backer a-IDEA (NAARM) exited with roughly 5x returns.

5. 2018-04Seed funding from Omnivore — AgNext raised about 2.1 million dollars in seed funding led by agri focused VC Omnivore, with participation from Singapore based and Indian angel investors.
6. 2016AgNext founded — Taranjeet Singh Bhamra (with co-founder Mrigank Sharad) founded AgNext Technologies in late 2016 to digitise quality assessment of agricultural and food commodities, with early incubation links to IIT Kharagpur and the a-IDEA (NAARM) agribusiness incubator.
