The Department of Posts, Maharashtra Circle, is organising the inauguration of the renovated Andheri Railway Station (R.S.) Post Office on May 8, 2026. Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister of Communications, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia are set to inaugurate the newly renovated Andheri Railway Station (RS) Post Office as a modern, future-ready post office.
Originally established in 1932-33, the Andheri RS Post Office has been upgraded under the 'Jan Sewa Connect' Project with enhanced infrastructure, improved customer facilities and modern digital services. The renovation marks a significant step in India Post's journey from tradition to technology.
The renovation has been carried out under the 'Jan Sewa Connect' Project, a flagship modernisation initiative of India Post. In collaboration with the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), New Delhi, the project aims to transform traditional post offices into contemporary, customer-centric and technology-enabled service hubs. The initiative focuses on superior infrastructure, improved customer experience, modern interiors, digital integration and efficient service delivery while preserving the legacy and trust associated with India Post.
The School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), New Delhi, is an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It is playing a key technical and design partner role in India Post's 'Jan Sewa Connect' project by contributing towards standardised architectural and interior design, modern and citizen-centric layouts, branding and visual identity, and maintaining uniformity across the country. The School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), New Delhi has provided the intellectual and technical backbone for the physical transformation and visual identity of the Andheri RS Post Office.
India Post, with its legacy of over 170 years and a network of more than 1.5 lakh post offices, continues to play a vital role in financial inclusion and digital services across the country. The Department has registered a healthy growth of 16 per cent in Gross Postal Revenue during 2025-26. The renovated Andheri RS Post Office symbolises this ongoing transformation towards efficient and citizen-centric service delivery.
Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister of Communications Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra and Goa Circle, Shri Amitabh Singh, will grace the dais and address Postmen, Postwomen and other staff members of Maharashtra Postal Circle at Andheri Sports Complex after the inauguration.
